Film Production - Les Mis

Development

-The idea came from the popular musical Les Mis.
-Relativity Media and Working Title Films agreed to make the film.
-This studio is owned by Ryan Kavanaugh and Universal Studios.
-The films budget was $61 million.
-It was produced by; Debra Hayward, Eric Fellner, Cameron Mackintosh and Tim Bevan.

Pre Production

-The script writers were William Nicholson, Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Sconberg and Herbert Kretzmer.
-It was directed by Tom Hooper.
-Some of the actors starring in the film were Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried.
-It was filmed in England.
Some of the locations used included Old Royal Naval College, Portsmouth Greenwich, London, Hampshire, Little Gaddesden, Hertfordshire and Ashridge Park.

Production

-The cameras which were used to film were 35mm spherical package of ARRICAM lite and studio cameras with ARRI/ZEISS Master prime lenses.

Post Production

-The editors of the film were Melanie Oliver and Chris Dickens,
-It was released on the 25th December in the USA 2012, and later released on 11th January 2013 in the UK.
-SFX and CGI were used in this film.
-Reviews were VERY mixed, 50% of the reviews stated that the film was so good that they couldn't work out how anyone could speak negatively of it, whilst the other 50% wondered how on earth such a dreadful film could gain such brilliant reviews.
-The UK box office made £8.13 million on its opening day.
-The US box office made $103.6 million.
-It made over $400 million in total worldwide.
-It was released on DVD on the 22nd March 2013.

  1. a comprehensive set of 'facts', the challenge will be using these facts to form an opinion. Credible opinions can only be formed once one fully masters a given topic. Try listening to Mark Kermode's radio 5 Friday film show, this will offer a nice mix of polemic viewpoints which you can adapt and adopt.
